Here’s what I’ve had to deal with, with this phone. Originally, I had this phone for 1 year before the LCD screen decided to have a freak out and project an array of tie-die colours whenever it felt like. At first I took it to a couple privately owned local stores to have it checked out, they couldn’t figure it out. Then I took it to a T-Mobile store and they were flabbergasted as well since they couldn’t find any damage. Luckily since this happened 2 days before the warranty expired, T-Mobile took it back and replaced it for me. This latest one, I’ve had since then and it’s still driving me crazy. With the previous phone, it shut itself off only about 4 times and erased all its memory (except for on the SIM card and SD card). Now, it’s approx. once every week or two that it’ll restart itself and erase all the data stored on the phone. T-Mobile says there’s nothing they can do about it except for either offer me a discount on a new phone or replace this one with ANOTHER Sidekick Slide. I’ve checked online and it seems the vast majority of Slides have this problem, which would explain why T-Mobile no longer sells them.

So overall, I would suggest to avoid this phone at all costs. It’s just not worth the hassle of losing the data and not being able to prevent it.

Sidenote: Yes, if you have the Sidekick Data plan, your data is backed up on Microsoft’s servers. But after their last screw up, would you really trust them? And for those of you who don’t know about it, Microsoft upgraded their servers that handled the backup data for the Sidekicks. However, they apparently had a fatal error which wiped out most of it. After a couple months, they finally recovered SOME of the lost data.

I was very concerned when reviewing this products other reviews that it would not be any good, but to my surprise it turned out fine. It is easy to use and not too big or small and the keyboard keys are just far enough apart for people like me that are all thumbs! Best bargin out there if your money is tight and you need a phone with keyboard for texting. It is a bit outdated looking, but if you dont mind not being “In Style” and owning a phone without a touchscreen, it is a perfectly good phone.

Worst phone ever!! I had this phone for more than a month now and till this day I still get the “wait 48 hours after purchase to activate.” always block my phone!!! Had to find a way to by pass it!! Always tell me got new message really don’t. No alarm!! Doesn’t read my memory card. Display screen doesn’t come on sometimes jus gives me black screen. So hard to take out battery. Can’t save my contacts or pictures cause it ends up deleting it. I don’t know how but it does. Everything is wrong with this phone….! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PHONE. (sidekick slide) did not wanna rate but i couldn’t proceed unless I did. Doesn’t deserve a star!

The H2O Wireless (Locus Telecommunication) may have cheap plans, but the customer service is the worst I’ve ever seen. Their web site is easy to navigate, because there is almost nothing you can do over it, other than give them your money. They charged my bank account through their web autorecharge service, but did not honored the transaction toward my prepaid minutes. Means, they took the money and did not provide anything in return. I spent days (yes, days) over the phone 1-800-643-4926. I experienced long waits (~40 minutes) after which my calls dropped as soon as I finally had gotten to a rep. Of course all to no avail. To cancel auto recharge you’d need to spend hours on the phone, and experience dropped calls, only to find out that it CANNOT be done immediately, it will have to go through their “billing department”. That department is dysfunctional, as it knows how to charge your bank account but is not competent to credit your minutes balance. I filed a case with BBB, and filed charge dispute with my bank. Don’t buy anything from this business, you’ll find lots of other complaints on the web against H2O Wireless. Explore other prepaid providers – whatever you find will be better than H2O Wireless.

Warning! H2O blocks Android Market and Youtube. Throttling in effect for new customers., October 31, 2011

This review is from: H2O Wireless Direct Dialing GSM Sim Card Starter Kit AT&T Network Prepaid – Lowest Rate Nationwide, No Contract (Wireless Phone Accessory)

This company is just dishonest IMHO. Claiming to be “unthrottled” and “unlimited” on their $60 a month plan, I took the bait and signed up. Thankfully I didn’t port my main cell number as this was only to be a test. After activating my phone things looked pretty good until I went to download something small from the Android Market. Things came to almost a screeching halt. The first 30 seconds of the download went fairly quickly, then just stopped for about two minutes, started back up for a short time, stopped again for two minutes, and after about 10 minutes the download finished. The same download on my other phone took less than a minute. Thinking this might be a fluke I factory reset my phone and tried again. Same results. Surfing was working good though.

Then I went to a Youtube link. Again the same symptoms. A quick short 30 seconds of loading then nothing. What is interesting is that streaming audio works great. Surfing works good. But the second you attempt to download anything it stops.

That is BS and dishonest. H2O is throttling and blocking certain sites with claims of doing otherwise.

What a waste of money for the price of the SIM and the first month at $60.
